Black Isle Yurts Glamping Scotland
Escape the rush and explore your wild side – a warm welcome awaits you at Black Isle Yurt
We offer self-catering holidays with a difference on an exclusive, eco-sensitive wild-glamping site that will draw you closer to some of Scotland’s most stunning coastal scenery. Your accommodation will be in our own hand-crafted yurts which are individually sited within an attractive woodland setting to provide you with unrivalled levels of privacy and tranquillity. This is an area of great bio-diversity with ancient birch and scots pine wooded ravines and open hill land on which we run a working farm.
The location of Black Isle Yurts allows spectacular cliff top views, as well as direct access to a dramatic coastline dotted with caves and secluded sandy beaches. Nearby Chanonry Point is one of the best onshore dolphin-spotting sites in Europe. And the Black Isle is one of the driest, sunniest parts of Scotland, famed for its micro-climate and, thankfully, its relative lack of midges!
Aspen is available from now throughout the course of this winter, with the others available to rent from March 25th
Our hand-crafted yurts are modelled on original designs from Central Asia where the sturdy structures have been used for thousands of years by nomadic people. Durable waterproof canvas replaces the traditional felt outer shell to take account of Scotland’s climate, but they retain a snug and cosy feel, especially when the wood burning stove is lit. Our yurts also have windows to allow you to enjoy natural light and the beautiful surroundings.
Each yurt is individually finished, furnished and equipped to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Yurts available for rental from 2016 include: Holly Yurt, Aspen Yurt, Rowan Yurt, Willow Yurt, Juniper Yurt and the Hazel Geodome.
Each yurt has:
- A wood burning stove and basket of firewood
- Comfy beds, duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels
- Table and chairs
- Two hob gas cooker/grill with pots, pans and a kettle
- Cutlery and crockery
- A lockable door
- An outdoor seating area (picnic bench or similar)
As the yurts are off-grid, they are free from mains power and water supply. Instead, we provide solar/hand powered lighting units and a refillable container of water. For those who prefer it, bottled mineral water is available for sale at The Hub.
Photos/Brief Descriptions of Yurts available to Rent:
Aspen yurt (16ft) our closest yurt to the Hub so is ideal for those who would prefer to be at proximity to the WC/Shower facilities. It is spacious and airy, comfortably sleeping up to 4 people.
Rowan Yurt (16ft) is a little further from the Hub than Aspen (120metres, appox), and also sleeps up to 4 guests. It also has it’s own picnic bench and affords an excellent level of privacy and tranquility.
Holly Yurt (15ft) is sited below the Hub so it is a short walk (uphill!) to access the WC/ Showers. However, Holly has an exceptional view over the Moray Firth and is a dedicated ‘dog-free’ rental unit, sleeping up to 3 adults.
Hazel Geodome (14ft) is our smallest tent, and is structurally quite different from the yurts, being a fairly modern invention! Hazel has just one double bed but has the same cooking facilties and wood burning stove as our yurts.
Please note that Juniper and Willow Yurts will all be new for 2016 so photos are not yet available!
However, they will be individually sited in their own unique locations within the same wooded area, at proximity to the Hub, furnished and finished to the same high standard as the yurts pictured above. It is anticipated that Willow Yurt will be 18ft diameter (so the biggest yurt on site), with a capacity for up to 5 adults. Juniper Yurt will be 16ft.
Please also note that the photos above are illustrative and exact furnishings may differ from those pictured as we replace/ renew items over the course of the 2016 season. Thank you for your understanding.
