LOCH KEN ECO BOTHIES ( REVIEW)
Most people seem to venture north and I am one of those people, so it was exciting to be traveling south to Dumfries and Galloway to explore an area I am not so familiar with. I was not disappointed, the area is so green and lush with roaming hills and beautiful wee villages like New Galloway and St Johns Town of Dalry which are only 3-4 miles away from Loch Ken Eco Bothies. In St Johns Town of Dalry we visited The Clachan Hotel which is an amazing classic Old Inn oozing with character and great food and ‘live’ music.
We arrived at the Eco Bothy which was secluded and a stones throw from the Loch side and it looked even better in real life than it did in the photos. A very quiet relaxed atmosphere in luxury accommodation and a hot tub for which you are given wood and instructions on how to work it which is actually very easy. The hot tub was on for us when we arrived and we did use it later under the stars with a glass of wine 🙂 The bed is very comfortable and the woodburning stove was the icing on the cake for me.
Our two boys wasted no time in finding the kayak that comes with the Bothy and before we knew it they were out paddling in the loch wearing the life jackets that are supplied from the Galloway Activity centre.
The Eco Bothies are on the site of the Galloway Activity centre which offers a fantastic range of water sports from kayaking to sailing. The Eco Bothies are the perfect place for a couple looking for a romantic break or for a family looking for adventure and peace for mum and dad too.I went on a 1hr 30 min sailing lesson which was amazing and I am now addicted.

We’ll be back.
